Quercus robur
Heartwood pale yellow brown, darkening with exposure. Sapwood creamy and distinctive.
Texture coarse and uneven. Grain usually straight. The large ray figure of the radial surface is often referred as silver grain.
Slower grown wood is comparatively soft and is more suitable for furniture manufacture and veneer.
